Frequently Asked Questions

Ready for Books deliveries include books to enrich your curriculum, increase preschoolers’ reading readiness and provide fun and enjoyment for all ages. Educational resource material such as craft activities, book lists and fingerplays are also included for the teachers.

Tubs are delivered to childcare centers every six weeks and to home care providers every month.

The Library has a number of different themes and age groups available. Each center chooses the appropriate age tubs for their needs.

Applications are available at all Pierce County Library System locations, by mail, or by telephone. You can also download the Childcare Center application.

Home care providers may also pick up applications at all Pierce County Library System locations, by mail, by telephone or by downloading the Application for Home Childcare Providers.

Childcare centers and home care providers meeting established criteria will be notified of their acceptance into the program.

Childcare centers and home care providers must:

  • Be a licensed facility.
  • Reside in the Pierce County Library System Service area.

Bags will be delivered to the childcare facility by friendly Pierce County Library staff.

For home providers, bags will be delivered to the Pierce County Library of the home childcare provider’s choice. The library childcare assistant will call when the new bags are ready for pickup.

Books and reading enrich your curriculum, increase preschooler’s reading readiness, and provide fun and enjoyment for all ages. Educational resource material such as craft activities, booklists and finger plays help teachers plan more robust learning opportunities. Best of all, the program is free!
